Our Client is a leader in the Energy Sector and is seeking a Senior Java Applications Administrator for a direct-hire, hybrid opportunity in Dallas. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience supporting enterprise Java applications and infrastructure, with expertise in middleware, cloud technologies, security, and automation. This role is responsible for delivering secure, scalable, and highly available application environments by applying Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) best practices to improve performance, reliability, and operational efficiency.
Required Skills & Experience
- Application Support: (4+ years): Supporting Java-based applications in production environments
- Application Servers & Middleware: JBoss, Apache Tomcat, IBM MQ / IBM Integration Bus (Broker) administration
- Cloud & Platform Administration: Microsoft Azure and Power Platform administration
- Workload Scheduling: UC4 / Automic or similar enterprise scheduling tools
- Identity & Access Management: Single Sign-On (SSO) integration and support
- Monitoring & Observability: Application performance monitoring and support tools
- Scripting & Automation: PowerShell, Python, and Unix/Linux shell scripting
- Database & Query Skills: SQL development and support for SQL Server and Oracle
- AI & Integration Development: AI application development and system integration
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Information Technology, or a related field
- Communication: Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to senior internal and external stakeholders
What You Will Be Doing
- Manage application environments by monitoring, troubleshooting, patching, and deploying code changes to ensure stable performance, prevent outages, and maintain service levels
- Review performance and growth trends and make recommendations to improve efficiency, stability, and data integrity
- Apply advanced administration and troubleshooting techniques to resolve complex technical issues
- Mentor, coach and support IT staff to strengthen technical capabilities and assist with complex assignments. Identify opportunities for automation to reduce manual effort and achieve process standardization
- Define and implement application administration standards to ensure SOX compliance
- Conduct risk assessments related to the development and maintenance of IT security functions to ensure information availability, integrity, and compliance
- Develop and maintain documentation supporting system maintenance, change management, and recovery procedures
- Evaluate and test backup and recovery processes to ensure application and data integrity and recoverability
- Stay current with emerging technologies and assess their relevance for business use
- Research, recommend, and implement technology enhancements and new solutions
- Maintain deep knowledge of cloud architecture, including how database and application design decisions impact performance, reliability, and operating costs
