A leading financial technology organization is seeking a Principal Cloud Engineer to join its growing cloud and platform engineering team. This hybrid opportunity is available in Chicago. The company develops highly secure payment and banking technology used by millions of consumers and businesses nationwide. Engineers work with AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, Java, Docker, microservices, and modern automation platforms to deliver reliable cloud solutions at enterprise scale.
This is an opportunity for an experienced technical leader to influence cloud strategy while solving complex engineering challenges. The organization is investing heavily in platform modernization and cloud adoption, creating an environment where engineers can shape architecture decisions, mentor teams, and drive long term technical initiatives. Required Skills & Experience
- 8+ years of software or cloud engineering experience
- Strong AWS experience across compute, networking, storage, security, and observability
- Expertise with Kubernetes and container technologies
- Experience with Terraform, Ansible, or other infrastructure automation tools
- Experience building distributed systems and microservices
- Strong understanding of CI/CD practices and automation
Desired Skills & Experience
- Java and Spring development experience
- Experience supporting production environments at scale
- Knowledge of networking, DNS, HTTP, TLS, and Linux systems
- FinTech, payments, or banking experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
