Job Title: QA Tester/Engineer (Mobile Ecomm)
Location: New York, NY (Onsite)

*Must be located and authorized to work in the US without visa sponsorship or transfer now or in the future. No C2C inquires, please*

This technology business develops specialized Android-based retail solutions designed to modernize the brick-and-mortar shopping experience. Focused on high-impact connected devices, they bridge the gap between digital and physical commerce by providing seamless mobile platforms for high-volume retail environments. The company is currently scaling its New York-based team to ensure their proprietary systems remain reliable and efficient for the modern consumer.

As a QA Tester/Engineer (Mobile Ecomm), you will play a critical role in ensuring the integrity of mobile checkout and ecommerce workflows from their New York office. This is a hands-on, onsite position focused on the physical testing of Android-based hardware devices. You will focus on the end-to-end transaction journey, ensuring that the software and user interface perform flawlessly on the company’s proprietary hardware. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to diagnose bugs, execute manual and automated test cases, and ensure the digital checkout process is frictionless before it is deployed to live store environments.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in testing and troubleshooting Android-based mobile applications.

  • Strong background in ecommerce or retail technology, specifically testing checkout flows, payment processing, and transaction stability.

  • Hands-on experience with automation testing tools such as Appium, Selenium, or similar frameworks.

  • Familiarity with test planning and management tools (e.g., TestRail).

  • Experience interacting with RESTful APIs using tools like Postman.

  • Nice to Have: Experience testing custom Android OS-based hardware, embedded systems, or POS peripherals (e.g., scanners, payment terminals).

  • Must be located in the NYC area and authorized to work in the US without current or future sponsorship.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform thorough, in-person testing of Android-based hardware devices within the New York office.

  • Focus heavily on the checkout experience, identifying and documenting bugs, latency issues, or UI friction that impacts the customer journey.

  • Execute and maintain test cases for both manual and automated regression suites.

  • Diagnose and resolve software issues on physical devices to ensure continuous application functionality and high-quality deployments.

  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to improve QA processes and provide feedback on new feature development.

  • Provide detailed documentation of test results, bug reports, and status updates.

  • Proactively identify and resolve usability issues to enhance the overall mobile user experience on proprietary hardware.

This is a full-time, onsite position in New York City (5 days per week) offering an hourly rate between $30.00 – $35.00/hour, depending on experience. This role is ideal for a tester who prefers working directly with physical devices and seeing the immediate impact of their work on retail technology. While the focus is on ecommerce software, any experience with custom Android OS hardware or embedded systems is highly valued.
