A globally recognized engineering and manufacturing organization is seeking a Private Cloud Architect for a full-time opportunity based onsite in Richardson, TX. This company operates at massive scale, delivering cutting-edge technology solutions that power everything from industrial systems to next-generation electronics. This role is centered on building and evolving a modern private cloud platform using Kubernetes (OpenShift/Rancher), Terraform, and hybrid cloud architectures across AWS, Azure, or GCP.
This is a high-impact, architecture-level opportunity where you will help transform a large, established enterprise into a more cloud-native, platform-driven environment. The organization is heavily investing in modernizing legacy infrastructure and enabling an internal “cloud-like” experience for developers and engineering teams. You will play a key role in shaping long-term platform strategy, introducing automation and self-service capabilities, and driving adoption of containerized and distributed systems across a highly complex environment. This is ideal for someone who enjoys solving large-scale infrastructure challenges while influencing enterprise-wide technical direction.
Required Skills & Experience
- 8+ years of experience in infrastructure, cloud, or platform engineering within large enterprise environments
- Strong experience designing and implementing private cloud architectures within data centers
- Deep hands-on experience with Kubernetes and container platforms such as OpenShift or SUSE Rancher
- Experience designing hybrid cloud architectures that integrate on-prem environments with AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or similar tools
- Strong understanding of distributed systems design, including scalability, high availability, and resiliency
- Experience working with automation frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and GitOps practices
Desired Skills & Experience
- Experience building internal developer platforms or self-service cloud environments
- Strong networking knowledge including L2/L3, load balancing, and segmentation
- Familiarity with EVPN/VXLAN, SDN, or advanced data center networking concepts
- Experience with Apache ecosystem technologies such as Kafka, Spark, or Flink
- Exposure to GPU or high-performance computing environments
- Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or centralized logging platforms
- Knowledge of identity and access management concepts including Zero Trust architectures
