A rapidly growing robotics and industrial automation startup in the Greater Boston area is hiring a full-time Senior Mechanical Engineer to develop advanced robotic systems that are transforming automotive service through automation. This role focuses on the design, analysis, prototyping, testing, and production release of complex mechatronic systems involving multi-axis motion, industrial automation, and robotic manipulation. The position offers the opportunity to work directly on innovative robotics technology, taking products from concept through deployment while helping shape the future of an emerging industry leader.

This is an exciting opportunity for a mechanical engineer who enjoys solving challenging real-world engineering problems and working across multiple disciplines. The company is seeking someone with deep expertise in mechatronic system design, system dynamics, and motion systems who can thrive in a highly collaborative startup environment. You’ll have significant ownership over product development, work alongside robotics, software, controls, and electrical engineers, and play a key role in bringing cutting-edge automation technology into production.

Required Skills & Experience

· Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics Engineering, or related discipline
· 5–8 years of professional experience in robotics, automation, or industrial equipment development
· Proven experience designing electro-mechanical systems from concept through production release
· Strong expertise in actuator, motor, transmission, and sensor selection and integration
· Experience working with encoders, load cells, proximity sensors, and other industrial sensing technologies
· Expertise in system dynamics, simulation, modeling, and vibration analysis
· Experience performing finite element analysis (FEA) for mechanical system validation
· Proficiency with SolidWorks and mechanical CAD design tools
· Experience creating engineering drawings and documentation compliant with ASME Y14.5 standards
· Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities
· Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills

Desired Skills & Experience

· MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related field
· Experience designing industrial tooling, fixtures, or automation equipment
· Experience developing free body diagrams and governing equations for electro-mechanical systems
· Experience performing static and dynamic load calculations
· Experience conducting kinematic and motion analysis
· Experience working with industrial controls and automation systems
· Experience establishing engineering documentation processes, BOM structures, CAD vaults, and part numbering systems
· MATLAB and/or Python programming experience
· Startup experience developing products in fast-paced environments
