A global leader in payments and digital commerce is looking for a Director, Product Development – MCP Platform & Agent Ecosystem to define how AI agents, Large Language Models, and emerging AI platforms securely interact with enterprise services at scale. This group serves as the innovation engine behind many of the company’s most strategic digital initiatives, building products and platforms that transform how customers experience payments, membership, and financial services. As AI reshapes the technology landscape, this company is investing heavily in the infrastructure, governance, and developer platforms required to participate in the rapidly evolving agent ecosystem.

In this role, you will own the strategy, vision, and roadmap for the company’s Model Context Protocol (MCP) platform, establishing the foundational capabilities that enable AI agents, external platforms, and internal AI experiences to securely access the company’s services. This position sits at the intersection of AI, platform product management, developer experience, security, governance, and enterprise architecture. You will work closely with Product, Engineering, Security, Risk, Compliance, Privacy, and Data teams to create the standards, operating models, and platform capabilities that will accelerate AI adoption across the organization while maintaining the highest levels of trust, security, and customer protection.

You will serve as the company’s subject matter expert on MCP architecture, AI agent ecosystems, and platform governance while helping establish the reusable foundations that power next-generation customer experiences. Required Skills & Experience

• 8+ years of Product Management experience with significant ownership of platform, API, developer platform, infrastructure, or ecosystem products
• Proven track record defining product strategy and delivering large-scale platform initiatives across multiple stakeholder groups
• Experience building developer-facing products, APIs, SDKs, integration frameworks, or platform ecosystems
• Strong understanding of authentication, authorization, OAuth, identity management, consent management, and platform security principles
• Experience partnering with Legal, Compliance, Privacy, Risk, and Security organizations to launch customer-facing capabilities
• Strong experience operating within highly cross-functional enterprise environments and influencing without direct authority
• Experience establishing product metrics, experimentation frameworks, and data-driven decision-making processes
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business outcomes
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience

Desired Skills & Experience

• Experience working with Large Language Models (LLMs), AI agents, agentic systems, MCP, tool orchestration, or function-calling architectures
• Experience building products for developer ecosystems, partner integrations, marketplaces, or platform businesses
• Knowledge of MCP standards, AI agent frameworks, and emerging AI platform ecosystems
• Experience defining responsible AI controls, governance frameworks, or AI platform standards
• Familiarity with observability, telemetry, monitoring, analytics, and platform measurement systems
• Experience with personalization platforms, customer context systems, conversational AI, or recommendation engines
• Experience partnering with enterprise architecture, security, privacy, and identity organizations on large-scale initiatives
• Financial services, fintech, payments, or other highly regulated industry experience
• Advanced degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline

What You Will Be Doing Daily Responsibilities

• Own the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the American Express MCP Platform and Agent Ecosystem
• Define platform standards, governance frameworks, and operating models that enable scalable MCP adoption across the enterprise
• Build and lead the MCP Center of Excellence, establishing best practices, reusable frameworks, and implementation guidance
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Architecture, Security, Privacy, Compliance, and Risk teams to deliver platform capabilities
• Define standards for AI tool design, metadata structures, schemas, prompts, agent interactions, and developer experiences
• Establish onboarding, documentation, SDK, and integration standards for internal and external platform consumers
• Develop authentication, authorization, consent management, and identity frameworks that enable secure AI interactions
• Define governance models and responsible AI standards that ensure compliance, transparency, and customer trust
• Establish platform-wide quality, evaluation, observability, telemetry, and performance measurement capabilities
• Partner with Data Science and Analytics teams to define KPIs, experimentation frameworks, and optimization strategies
• Build personalization and contextual intelligence foundations that improve AI-enabled customer experiences
• Serve as a strategic advisor to business leaders and product teams adopting MCP and agent-based technologies
• Evaluate emerging industry standards, AI ecosystems, and agent platforms to continuously evolve platform strategy
