Job details

A leading enterprise technology organization is seeking a Mainframe z/OS System Programmer to join its infrastructure team in Phoenix, Arizona. This is a full-time hybrid position requiring onsite attendance three days per week. The environment includes IBM z/OS, RACF, JES2/JES3, REXX, NetView, DB2, CICS, IMS, MQ, and enterprise scheduling and automation platforms. 

This position offers an opportunity to support highly available enterprise systems that power critical business operations. The successful candidate will work across operating system administration, performance optimization, automation, security, and infrastructure modernization efforts. Ideal candidates enjoy solving complex technical problems, driving platform stability, and working within large-scale enterprise computing environments. Required Skills & Experience

  • Experience administering IBM z/OS environments
  • Strong understanding of JES2/JES3
  • Experience with TSO/E, ISPF, and USS
  • Knowledge of RACF administration and security concepts
  • System performance analysis using RMF, SMF, and SDSF
  • Experience with operating system upgrades and maintenance
  • Root cause analysis and production troubleshooting experience
  • Experience supporting enterprise change management processes
  • Automation experience with REXX, CLIST, NetView, or SA z/OS

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Experience supporting DB2, CICS, IMS, or MQ environments
  • Capacity planning and performance engineering experience
  • ServiceNow experience
  • Disaster recovery planning and testing experience
  • Mainframe modernization project exposure

What You Will Be Doing

  • Maintain and optimize IBM z/OS operating environments
  • Implement upgrades, patches, and system enhancements
  • Monitor platform health and tune system performance
  • Support security and compliance initiatives
  • Develop and maintain automation solutions
  • Investigate and resolve infrastructure incidents
  • Participate in maintenance and deployment activities
  • Create and maintain operational documentation
