Embedded Firmware Engineering Manager
This full-time opportunity located west of Boston is with an engineering-driven organization that develops advanced control and automation technologies used in robotics, industrial systems, and other high-performance applications. The company is seeking an experienced Embedded Firmware Engineering Manager to lead firmware development efforts while remaining hands-on in the design and implementation of real-time embedded solutions. This role is well suited for someone with a strong background in C/C++, embedded systems, hardware integration, and technical leadership.

The standout aspect of this position is the balance between leadership and technical ownership. You’ll have the opportunity to guide a small team of engineers while directly influencing product development, embedded architecture, and engineering best practices. The organization is looking for someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, mentoring engineers, collaborating across disciplines, and helping bring innovative products from concept through deployment.
Required Skills & Experience

  • 10+ years of embedded firmware development experience
  • Strong programming experience with C/C++
  • Experience developing software for real-time embedded systems
  • Experience leading or mentoring engineering teams
  • Knowledge of microcontrollers, processors, and embedded architectures
  • Experience with hardware/software integration and debugging
  • Familiarity with source control and development lifecycle best practices
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Python or Verilog experience
  • RTOS development experience
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols
  • Experience with FPGA-based systems
  • Motor control, robotics, or automation experience
  • Understanding of control systems and control algorithms
  • Exposure to functional safety standards and regulated environments
