Job Description
A growing technology organization is seeking a Backend Engineer to join its Platform Engineering and Developer Experience team. This role is focused on improving the software development lifecycle, enhancing developer productivity, and building scalable cloud-native platform solutions used across the engineering organization.
As a senior member of the team, you will play a key role in advancing AI-driven development practices, helping to create a future where intelligent tools assist engineers throughout the design, development, testing, and deployment process. You will work across cloud infrastructure, automation, developer tooling, and platform services to enable teams to build and deliver software more efficiently.
This is a hybrid position located in the Waltham, MA area, requiring three days per week onsite.
Required Skills & Experience

  • 6+ years of software engineering experience within cloud-first environments
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Proven track record of leading and delivering impactful technical initiatives
  • Strong programming experience with Java, Kotlin, JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Bash, or similar languages
  • Experience improving developer workflows and engineering productivity
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Self-motivated with a strong interest in emerging AI technologies
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, evolving environments

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Jenkins
  • Knowledge of cloud infrastructure and Infrastructure-as-Code practices
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and containerization technologies
  • Familiarity with build tools such as Maven, Gradle, npm, or Nx
  • Knowledge of software testing methodologies and tooling
  • Experience with monitoring, logging, and observability platforms
  • Familiarity with Internal Developer Platforms and self-service developer tools such as Backstage
  • Experience supporting large-scale engineering organizations

What You Will Be Doing
Daily Responsibilities

  • 100% Hands On
  • Help design and implement AI-assisted software development workflows
  • Build and enhance platform services that support development, testing, deployment, and operations
  • Improve developer experience by identifying and removing workflow bottlenecks
  • Lead engineering initiatives focused on automation and platform modernization
  • Design and maintain cloud-native infrastructure and developer tooling
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable platform solutions
  • Evaluate and adopt technologies that improve engineering effectiveness
  • Influence platform architecture, standards, and best practices
  • Support engineering teams through reliable, secure, and scalable infrastructure solutions

The Offer

  • Base Salary: $180,000 – $200,000 USD
