Senior Network Operations

One of our clients is searching for a Senior Network Operations Specialist to join their dynamic IT team 100% onsite. In this pivotal role, you’ll be immersed in a hands-on environment, supporting sophisticated networking and firewall infrastructure spanning multiple campus locations. This exciting opportunity to steer the daily operations of an extensive network begins as a 12-month W2 contract. The project is set on a multi-year trajectory with the potential for 12-month extensions. This position is 100% onsite in Westbury, NY, with a Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM schedule, and regular overtime expected (please verify benefits, and other employment details as needed).
Responsibilities:

• Manage and support a wide range of switches, routers, and firewalls (including Fortinet, Cisco, Juniper, and Meraki)
• Oversee both cloud-managed and on-premises networking environments, supporting seamless connectivity and security
• Administer networking technologies, including VMware, Azure, Network Access Control (NAC), DUO, Google Workspace, and Microsoft Entra
• Troubleshoot, maintain, and enhance network performance across campus locations
• Provide telephony network support
• Collaborate closely with internal IT teams while maintaining autonomy over specialized tasks
• Travel daily between locations with a personal vehicle

Skills & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field (please confirm education requirements)
• 5+ years of hands-on networking management experience
• Solid expertise with cloud and on-prem networking tools and technologies
• Advanced skills in switches, routers, and firewalls (Fortinet, Cisco, Juniper, Meraki)
• Proficiency with VMware, Azure, and Network Access Control solutions
• Familiarity with telephony networking
• Valid driver’s license and daily access to a personal vehicle
• Strong communication and organizational abilities; attention to detail
• Demonstrated independence in troubleshooting and continuous professional development

Preferred:

• In-depth knowledge of Fortinet firewalls
• Experience with DUO, Google Workspace, and Microsoft Entra
• Exposure to large enterprise or educational settings; knowledge of educational data systems
• Relevant certifications (Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, etc.)

Please note: Deep hands-on experience in networking and firewalling is required for this role.
