A rapidly growing healthcare technology startup focused on modernizing the global medical travel industry is looking for a Founding Product Designer to help build the future of international healthcare access. This company is creating the essential infrastructure that connects patients with trusted, medical-board-vetted clinics and surgeons around the world, bringing transparency, trust, and structure to a process that has historically been fragmented and difficult to navigate. Backed by a board of leading U.S. surgeons, the company is transforming how patients discover, evaluate, and access life-changing medical care across borders.

In this role, you will become the first design hire and take ownership of the entire product design function. Working directly with the founders and leadership team, you will define the visual identity, user experience, and design standards for a platform that sits at the intersection of healthcare, travel, and technology. You’ll help solve complex logistical challenges while creating experiences that inspire confidence and trust for patients making important healthcare decisions. This is an ideal opportunity for a designer who enjoys building products from zero to one and wants to have a lasting impact on both the company and its users.

This is a full-time onsite opportunity based in New York City. As a foundational member of the team, you’ll have significant influence over product strategy, design culture, and the future direction of the platform. Required Skills & Experience

• 3–8 years of product design experience with a strong portfolio showcasing exceptional visual design and product thinking
• Experience working at early-stage startups, ideally as a founding, first, or early design hire
• Strong end-to-end product design experience across user research, UX, interaction design, and visual design
• Expertise creating intuitive user experiences for complex workflows and multi-step user journeys
• Advanced proficiency with Figma and modern prototyping tools
• Experience building and maintaining scalable design systems
• Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and product development processes
• Ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous startup environments

Desired Skills & Experience

• Experience designing products within healthcare, healthtech, travel, marketplaces, or other trust-driven industries
• Experience taking products from zero to one and helping define product strategy
• Strong user research and usability testing experience
• Exceptional visual design skills with a strong eye for detail and product craftsmanship
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a bias toward action and ownership
• Experience collaborating closely with founders and engineering teams
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Passion for solving meaningful customer problems through thoughtful design

What You Will Be Doing Daily Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end design of the platform and customer experience
• Design intuitive workflows that help patients navigate complex international healthcare journeys
• Establish and maintain the company’s first formal design system across all digital touchpoints
• Partner directly with founders and engineers to define product priorities and feature roadmaps
• Translate complex medical, logistical, and operational processes into simple, user-friendly experiences
• Create wireframes, prototypes, high-fidelity designs, and production-ready assets
• Conduct user research and usability testing to better understand customer needs, concerns, and behaviors
• Iterate rapidly based on customer feedback and product insights
• Help establish design best practices, processes, and culture as the organization grows
• Contribute to the long-term product vision and overall brand identity of the company
