Job Description

A large enterprise organization is hiring an AI Prompt Engineer to join a GenAI security research and development team in Charlotte. This team is focused on cybersecurity assessment and SAST/DAST scanning of frontier AI models, using advanced prompting techniques to identify vulnerabilities, security weaknesses, and potentially malicious behavior.

In this role, you will develop complex, context-aware AI prompts and prompting harnesses used for cyber defense testing. You will apply advanced prompting techniques to areas such as penetration-style testing, perimeter and port scanning, certificate misuse detection, vulnerability discovery, and other security assessments. You will also work closely with data engineering and threat-hunting teams to ensure AI-generated findings are captured, structured, investigated, and remediated appropriately.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrated experience developing complex, advanced AI prompts
  • Strong cybersecurity background and understanding of vulnerabilities, malware behavior, and ingress/egress security issues
  • General software development experience using Python, Go, .NET, or another programming language
  • Experience building context-aware prompting workflows or AI harnesses
  • Experience working with frontier AI models such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar platforms
  • Database experience with PostgreSQL, Elastic, Cloud SQL, or comparable technologies
  • Ability to speak in detail about specific AI prompting projects and security use cases

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Experience with SAST or DAST security testing
  • Penetration testing, vulnerability assessment, or security research experience
  • Cloud computing experience
  • Kubernetes or GKE experience
  • Experience working with GenAI security research or model evaluation
  • Experience partnering with data engineering or threat-hunting teams

What You Will Be Doing

Daily Responsibilities

  • Develop advanced AI prompts and prompting harnesses for cybersecurity testing
  • Apply prompting techniques to vulnerability and penetration-style testing
  • Support perimeter scanning, port scanning, and certificate misuse detection
  • Test and iterate prompts across multiple frontier AI models
  • Analyze model responses and refine prompting strategies based on findings
  • Work with data engineering teams to structure and capture AI-generated security findings
  • Collaborate with threat hunters to determine which findings require further investigation or remediation
  • Contribute to GenAI security research and experimentation
