Job Description

A large enterprise financial services organization is looking for a Lead Information Security Engineer to join its Identity and Access Management technology group in Charlotte, NC.

This position will serve as a senior technical resource responsible for protecting and maintaining a portfolio of business-critical IAM applications. The engineer will work across security engineering, application operations, infrastructure, and reliability initiatives to make sure these platforms remain secure, available, scalable, and operationally sound.

A major part of the position will involve evaluating and addressing application and infrastructure vulnerabilities, coordinating remediation with development teams, and improving the overall security posture of the environment. You will also play a leadership role during production incidents, troubleshoot complex application issues, perform root cause analysis, and help prevent recurring service disruptions.

The engineer will additionally improve monitoring and observability across the application portfolio while supporting infrastructure changes, cloud modernization, environment readiness, disaster recovery, and deployment activities. This is a highly collaborative role working across cybersecurity, engineering, architecture, operations, and infrastructure teams.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 7+ years of experience in Information Security Engineering, Platform Engineering, Application Engineering, DevOps, SRE, or a related discipline
  • Strong background in vulnerability management and application security
  • Experience supporting enterprise applications in production
  • Hands-on involvement with major incident response and production troubleshooting
  • Strong understanding of logging, monitoring, telemetry, alerting, and application observability
  • Experience supporting distributed, cloud-hosted, or highly available applications
  • Knowledge of production change, release, and implementation processes
  • Strong root cause analysis and technical problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to lead technical initiatives involving multiple engineering and security teams

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Background supporting Identity and Access Management or Identity Governance platforms
  • Experience with Azure
  • Exposure to Kubernetes, OpenShift, or other container platforms
  • Experience working with application performance monitoring tools
  • Knowledge of disaster recovery and business continuity practices
  • Experience leading vulnerability remediation efforts
  • Understanding of ITIL Incident, Problem, Change, or Service Management
  • Familiarity with CI/CD automation and DevSecOps practices
  • CISSP, Security+, AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, ITIL, or similar certifications

What You Will Be Doing Daily Responsibilities

  • Assess security vulnerabilities and coordinate remediation activities with engineering teams
  • Provide senior-level support for production IAM applications
  • Lead technical troubleshooting during outages and critical incidents
  • Perform root cause analysis and drive corrective actions
  • Improve application monitoring, alerting, dashboards, and operational metrics
  • Help establish application health and reliability standards
  • Coordinate changes involving networking, databases, middleware, certificates, DNS, and cloud services
  • Support development, testing, staging, production, and disaster recovery environments
  • Review production changes for operational and security risk
  • Participate in disaster recovery testing and resiliency planning
  • Drive automation and operational process improvements
  • Communicate technical risks and recommendations to engineering leaders and stakeholders

The Offer

  • $69-$78/hour depending on experience
  • 6-month contract
